Restore
In PratikYedek restore is zero-knowledge:
- Encrypted chunks are downloaded from the server
- Your device decrypts them with the encryption key
- Files are written to the target folder
Restoring with desktop
- Go to Backups
- Select the snapshot you want to restore
- Click Restore
- Choose a target folder (important: pick a different folder if there is a risk of overwriting existing files)
- Enter your encryption passphrase
- Restore begins
Restoring via web
Per-file download:
- Backups → [snapshot] detail page
- Select the file you want from the file list
- Click Download
- The browser downloads it encrypted → it is decrypted on your device → a save dialog opens
Bulk folder restore is not available via web — that is a desktop-only feature.
Restoring older versions
PratikYedek does versioning; every backup creates a new snapshot.
- On the Backups page see the snapshot list per folder (sorted by date)
- Pick an older snapshot → restore
- Tax advisor plans keep 7 years of history (KVKK § 12 + audit_log)
Emergency: no access to your account
If your account is suspended or you have access issues:
- Contact destek@pratikyedek.com
- Identity verification (Turkish ID + account email)
- A manual export (encrypted tar.gz) is sent
Encryption key loss
Due to the zero-knowledge architecture, PratikYedek does not know and cannot recover your encryption key. Passphrase loss = data loss.
Recommended practices:
- Store the encryption key passphrase in a password manager (1Password / Bitwarden)
- Keep a paper copy in a safe place
- For tax advisors: office safe + personal password manager (two layers)
